Simon Lamparelli, a junior, ran the 100-meter dash in 11 seconds flat Tuesday during his first ever track meet, breaking the previous record of 11.3 seconds that had stood since 1993. Because it was hand-timed, Simon’s time will be officially recorded as 11.24 seconds.
 Abby Lampke, Lauraeli Shaffer-Walko, and Trinnity Wheatle took second at the Odyssey of the Mind regional competition on March 12 and qualified for the state championships on March 26 in Syracuse.

Upward Bound
With its win over Notre Dame Wednesday, our Mock Trial team moved to 2-1 on its season and qualified for the quarterfinals Monday against Batavia. Attica’s team includes Jacob Amey,  Erika Conrad, Ashely Piorun, Anya Clark, Rebecca Harris, Ahlam Sayad, Munir Sayad, Alan Driesel and Kara Hassenfratz.

  Mrs. Erin Holt put photographs of four people up on her Smartboard Thursday morning and challenged her middle school ELA students to identify who were the Nazis and who were the Jews. The exercise served as an object lesson in the difficulty of identifying evil.
Seeing the toll the pandemic was taking on her classmates, an Attica senior decided to write 98 personalized letters filled with words of encouragement and happy memories for each and every member of the class of 2022. Each letter included the introduction shown above.
