Today marked the end of our first ever girls summer youth basketball camp!
Throughout the week-long girls camp, coaches Rob Crowley, Mandy Kaiser and Cassie Furr worked with campers to improve their ball-handling, passing and shooting skills.
After today’s practice, Coach Crowley handed out camp certificates and awards before campers headed to the high school lobby for soda and pizza.

At one of our summer learning camp days last month, campers had a chance to make smoothies and parfaits in our cafeteria!
A huge shout out to Milk for Health, whose funding allowed us to offer this fun (and delicious) activity for our campers!

This is a reminder that Family ID is open and any students who are interested in playing a sport this fall must be signed up with an up to date physical. All 7th and 8th graders are able to sign up for any level but will need a physical fitness test done by the Athletic Director, doctors Tanner 4 form, and parent permission to try out for a JV or varsity sport before the first day of practice. Contact Athletic Director Lisa Young with questions. Varsity football will start August 19. All other JV and varsity sports will start August 26 along with modified football. All other modified sports will start September 4. The JV and varsity cheer teams are looking for 7th and 8th graders interested in coming out for the cheer team.

Summer Learning Camp: Mr. Adam Landphair’s campers have been reading “Because of Winn-Dixie” together during ELA instruction time.

Summer Learning Camp: Mrs. Janelle Bauer stopped by to do a science lesson with our campers out in our garden. Bauer took students through some of the different types of plants we have in our garden and explained how they grow.
Summer Learning Camp: Campers made their own javelins during STEAM using nothing but paper, tape and tin foil, then competed to see who could hurl theirs the farthest.
Summer Learning Camp: A representative from Prehistoric World in Perry stopped by with a selection of snakes, amphibians, reptiles and turtles to show campers.

Our Summer Learning Camp is in full swing, so we figured we’d share some of the cool things campers have been doing these past couple of weeks!
Kristen Hess of Attica Partners for Ag came in and did a lesson with our campers on the different layers of the Earth. Campers got to make their own edible replicas of the Earth’s crust, then eat it as a snack!
So many fantastic things going on this morning at our Summer Learning Camp!
Each day, campers receive an hour of math instruction, an hour of English language arts instruction and an hour of some other enriching activity such as working on a STEAM project, going on a trip to the library or taking a swim lesson.
Today, we welcomed Mr. John and Ms. Jackie from the Buffalo Zoo’s Zoomobile Program, who brought a hands-on learning experience to our District Auditorium.
Campers learned about animal habitats across each of the 7 continents and some of the fascinating creatures that inhabit them! Mr. John and Ms. Jackie brought an elephant tooth, a wolf pelt, a giant squid beak and a whole bunch of other cool animal artifacts for our campers to look at and touch as well as a few live animals for campers to see up close.
So cool!

Attention parents of students going into grades 7th through 12th this Fall, Family ID will be open on Friday, July 19 to sign up for all fall sports modified, JV and Varsity. Students must have an updated physical on file with the school nurse to participate. Varsity football's first day is August 19 from 4-8pm. Due to numbers, we will not have a JV football team this year, instead 7th, 8th, and 9th graders will be able to participate on a modified A team or modified B football team. 9th graders are only allowed to participate at the modified A level or varsity. The modified football teams will start on August 26, 6-8pm. JV and Varsity soccer, cross country, cheer, and volleyball will start on August 26. Girls soccer will practice from 7-9am, boys soccer will practice from 8:30-10:30am, varsity cheer will practice 8-10:30am, JV cheer will practice 3-5pm, JV and varsity volleyball will practice 3:30-5:30 and Cross Country will practice 3:30-5 at Genesee County Park main entrance. Modified soccer and modified volleyball will start September 4, 3:30-5:30.
