Farm to School

Exciting News:

Attica Central School District was notified on June 23, 2022 that we were awarded the 21-22 Farm-to-School Grant in the amount of $100,000.   The grant was submitted and written by our School Business Administrator, Meaghan Matuszak with the help and support of the local Partners for Agriculture community group, local farmers and the district's cafeteria committee.  The Farm-to-School program is a key component of the state's efforts to grow the agricultural economy.  The program is aimed at developing and strengthening connections between farms and schools and assisting the school in procuring and serving healthy, locally grown foods in school meals.   Farm-to-School funding will be used to train school staff in food preparation, procurement, conduct outreach to producers, educate students, and purchase equipment to support food transport, storage, and preparation.  The initiative is an important tool in supporting our farmers and will make it easier for schools to increase the use of New York grown foods straight from the farm.
