Dear Attica School Community,

Here at Attica Central Schools, excellence is not an occasional achievement. It’s a daily commitment.

As a district, we hold ourselves to the highest standards in all areas of our operations, from academics and the arts to athletics and student well-being. Our mission is to provide every student with the resources, support and opportunities they need to reach their full potential.

While our community may witness the results of this excellence a few times a year - like on our Performing Arts Center stage a few weeks ago when the cast and crew of “Freaky Friday” blew us away with their skillful performances, in our high school gymnasium earlier this month where student musicians came together for our 39th annual Band in the Round concert or at Nazareth University’s Golisano Training Center, where members of our varsity boys and girls track and field teams battled for a spot atop the podium against Section V’s cream of the crop - the truth is that excellence happens every day in all three of our schools.

Our students demonstrate determination, innovation and resilience in ways that are not always visible but are no less significant.

This daily pursuit of excellence would not be possible without the efforts of our teachers, administrators and support staff. These dedicated professionals work behind the scenes - often unnoticed - to nurture, guide and inspire our students. Their commitment ensures that learning is rigorous, that challenges are met with perseverance and that every student is encouraged to strive for success in their own unique way.

Indeed, our teachers’ dedication to fostering excellence in their students is, in itself, a form of excellence.

Look no further than Mrs. Sarah Stenson, a STEAM teacher in our elementary school who, earlier this month, marked a truly incredible achievement in earning both the New York Agriculture in the Classroom’s Teacher of the Year Award and the National Agriculture in the Classroom’s 2025 National Excellence in Teaching About Agriculture Award.

As a dedicated STEAM educator, Stenson has transformed her classroom into a dynamic hub of hands-on learning, where students not only explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics but also develop a deep appreciation for agriculture’s vital role in their lives.

Her innovative teaching methods and passion inspire our youngest students to think critically, solve real-world problems, and connect with the world around them in meaningful ways.

Her work exemplifies the profound impact that a single educator can have in shaping the future a student at a time.

We are incredibly proud of our students and staff and grateful to our families and community for your support. Your partnership strengthens our schools and empowers our students to achieve greatness - not just on special occasions, but every single day.

Thank you for being an integral part of our continuing journey toward excellence.

With gratitude,

Dr. Kiel Illg
