Greetings Attica Community,

I would like to share with you some of the things I’ve learned in the fourteen days that I’ve had the privilege of being the Interim High School Principal. First, Attica has really excellent students.  Every student that I have been in contact with has made me feel welcome.  I’ve had some great conversations with our students, whether it’s visiting with a Spanish class, sitting at students’ tables in the cafeteria having conversations, or just talking in the hall for a few minutes.  I’ve visited many classes and found students to be actively engaged in their learning.  Overall there is an uplifting atmosphere among the student body.

Second, the faculty and staff are outstanding.  As I’ve made my way into classes, I see teachers providing interesting, engaging, and rigorous lessons within their content areas; lessons which invite active participation from everyone in the classroom.  It is readily apparent that teachers have invested time and energy into building relationships with students; an essential ingredient when crafting a positive school culture.

I have spent many years in various school districts during my career in education.   I can confidently say that Attica is among the finest districts in which I’ve had the pleasure of serving students.

Please rest assured that my goal as the Interim High School Principal is aligned with the goal of Attica Central.  That goal is to provide a safe, engaging, interactive learning environment where students are challenged and supported to reach their full potential and where parents are encouraged to participate in their child’s school experience, confident that their children will be valued and treated with respect and dignity.

Educationally yours,

Thomas K. Kopp

Interim HS Principal
