Kiel Illg.

As days begin to shorten, leaves begin to drop and temperatures begin to fall, I’m excited to share with you the sense of anticipation and pride that’s been building in our hallways over the past couple of weeks for one of our and our students’ favorite times of the school year - homecoming!

This annual tradition serves as an opportunity not only for our alumni to return to their old stomping grounds but for our community to come together, renew our shared commitment to education and re-establish the connections that make our district special.

As we look toward homecoming week, we have yet another chance to come together, reflect on the traditions that have defined our district, and celebrate the future that we’re building together.

Whether it’s a parade or pep rally, a football game or a dress up day, I encourage everyone - students, staff, families and alumni - to take part in our homecoming celebrations as these events are more than just a show of school pride, they’re a recognition of the values that unite us.

Earlier this month, we welcomed our elementary and middle school families into our school buildings for open house events. I was heartened to see parents, guardians, and family members engaging with teachers and staff, eager to learn more about the curriculum and other learning opportunities awaiting our students this year.

These open houses serve as an essential bridge, helping our families better understand what their children will be learning and how they can be involved in their academic journeys. Your participation and support set a strong foundation for the year ahead and I’m looking forward to welcoming the families of our older students to our campus at our high school open house on Oct. 10.

It may sound cliche but I find myself filled with a sense of optimism as we embark on another school year. New beginnings have a way of doing that and to be honest, it’s hard to be pessimistic around our students. They’re bright, motivated and know they have the ability to leave positive impacts on the world.

While the new year is only a few weeks old, our students are already demonstrating their potential, our teachers are already working tirelessly to inspire and challenge them, and our community’s continued support ensures that we are all striving toward a bright and successful future. Together, we will make this year one of growth, achievement, and shared success.

Thank you for being an integral part of our students journey and I look forward to seeing many of you throughout Homecoming Week.

With gratitude and excitement,

Dr. Kiel Illg
