Attica Central School District will once again be offering a Summer Learning Camp program this coming summer for students entering 1st through 8th grade.
This program is made possible by the $2.8 million School Climate Grant the U.S. Department of Education awarded our district in 2019.
The focus of the summer program will be to encourage and reinforce reading, writing and math skills, while incorporating mindfulness practices to support social-emotional growth and development. The funds from the grant will expand opportunities for students. The program will offer learning in the areas of STEM (science-technology-engineering-math), agriculture and science, among others.
The summer program will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday, from July 10 to Aug. 3, 2023, at Attica Middle School, 3338 East Main Street Rd., Attica.
Each day, students will take part in one hour of English Language Arts instruction and one hour of math instruction. The final hour each day is reserved for social-emotional activities, hands-on projects and physical education games among many other things.
There is no cost to participate in the program and transportation will be available for students that are eligible for transportation during the school year.
